Designing technical and vocational skills development programs
NGO training workshop with Richard Walther

Invitation:
Technical and vocational skills development (TVSD) for youth and adult in the South has recently become the focus of attention for many Danish development NGOs. This workshop offers the opportunity to build the capacity of your organisation to support South-partners in designing interventions for TVSD in the form of training programs, building new partnerships, and working with advocacy for better youth and adult training and employment opportunities. The workshop is organised by Børne- og Ungdomsnetværket (The Danish Child and Youth NGO Network), Uddannelsesnetværket (The Danish NGO Education Network) and Projektrådgivningen (The Project Advice and Training Centre) and is open to all members of these networks.
The facilitator:
The workshop will be facilitated by Dr. Richard Walther, Senior Expert on vocational training at the research department of the French Development Agency. Richard is the author of numerous studies on TVSD and has a vast experience in counselling on TVSD interventions. He was a key note speaker and facilitor at the conference on Technical and Vocational Skills Development in Africa: the Role of NGOs, in February 2009 held by the Danish NGO networks.
The workshop:
The workshop will focus on participant’s needs for competence and capacity development, and will be based on cases and experiences from participating NGOs. The facilitator will provide short presentations and provide practical and concrete guidance on how to design relevant and effective TVSD interventions.

- A mapping of TVSD activities among Danish NGOs and other actors is carried out in the autumn 2009 in cooperation by Børne- og Undomsnetværket and Uddannelsesnetværket.
